Begusarai: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, addressing a massive public rally in Begusarai on Sunday, made a significant promise to the people of Bihar.

He said that if the INDIA alliance comes to power at the Centre, it will establish a world-class university in Bihar, comparable to the historic Nalanda University, and focus on reforming the education system to create better opportunities for students.

“I give you my personal guarantee that the day the INDIA alliance comes to power at the Centre, we will open a university in Bihar as good as Nalanda University. Students from across the world will come here to study,” Gandhi declared amid loud cheers from the crowd.

‘A Government for Everyone’: Rahul

Reaching out to a wide range of social groups, Gandhi emphasized that a Mahagathbandhan-led government in Bihar would work for all sections of society. “If we form a government in Bihar, it will be a government for everyone not for one caste or community,” he said, urging people to support the alliance in the upcoming elections.

Gandhi’s statement comes at a time when the opposition is trying to consolidate support among youth and marginalized communities across the state, a crucial battleground for both state and national politics.

Rahul Gandhi Targets PM Modi Over Election Promises

The Congress leader also launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of making promises only during election campaigns and failing to follow through afterward.

“Modi ji comes before elections, gives speeches, and promises to do whatever you ask. But once the elections are over, he doesn’t return to Bihar or listen to your issues,” Gandhi said, drawing sharp applause from the audience.

PM Distracting Youth From Real Issues, says Rahul

In his speech, Gandhi also criticized the government’s handling of unemployment, saying that the Prime Minister was trying to divert the attention of India’s youth from pressing economic issues.

“Instead of providing jobs, the Prime Minister is asking the youth to watch social media reels. He wants to distract them so they don’t raise questions about unemployment,” Gandhi alleged.

Taking a swipe at Modi’s public image, he quipped, “The PM can do anything for votes. Tell him to do yoga, and he will perform a few asanas for the camera.”

Focus on Youth and Education

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks underscore the Congress party’s attempt to position itself as a champion of youth issues ahead of the 2025 elections. By promising educational reforms and global-level institutions in Bihar, Gandhi aims to tap into the aspirations of young voters while contrasting his developmental agenda against what he described as the Modi government’s “photo-op politics.”
