New Delhi: After multiple delays, the much-anticipated film Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Bobby Deol, has finally offered its first official teaser. The film is directed by Shiv Rawail and forms a part of the expanding Yash Raj Films spy universe, which includes titles like Pathaan, War, and Tiger Zinda Hai.
The teaser introduces a darker emotional tone, blending family drama with high-stakes espionage, setting the stage for a new generation of covert operatives.
The teaser opens with Bobby Deol’s character taking his daughter Sia (played by Alia Bhatt) to a celebratory dinner on her 18th birthday. What begins as a warm family moment quickly shifts when Sia receives a mysterious gift containing a coded message.
The celebration takes a serious turn as her father reveals the real purpose behind the occasion—her first mission assignment. The revelation leaves Sia visibly shaken as she realises she is being prepared for a life of covert operations.
Bobby Deol’s character, who has trained Sia since childhood, is shown enforcing a strict philosophy built around discipline and strength. The teaser highlights the symbolic Alpha insignia on Sia’s forearm, hinting at her transformation into an elite operative.
The phrase “a wolf’s daughter is a wolf” underscores the intense training and emotional conflict at the heart of the story. The footage also offers brief glimpses of Alia Bhatt in action, suggesting a physically demanding role.
Alpha has faced multiple postponements. It was initially scheduled for release on December 25 last year, then moved to April, before being pushed again to July 3. However, reports suggest further scheduling adjustments, with earlier statements from the studio citing extensive VFX work as the reason for delays.
A YRF spokesperson previously stated that the team wanted to ensure a cinematic experience without compromising on visual quality.
Alpha marks the seventh installment in the YRF spy universe following Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and War 2. The film also stars Sharvari in a key role alongside Alia Bhatt.
