Dolly Singh’s Viral Reaction to Pranit More Clip (Image Internet)
New Delhi: A clip from comedian Pranit More’s stand-up performance has sparked widespread controversy on social media after a segment of audience interaction went viral. The now-deleted video showed a crowdwork exchange in which a male audience member described a recent date and made a remark suggesting that spending around ₹370 on a chicken biryani entitled him to something in return from the woman.
The comment quickly drew criticism online after the clip circulated widely, with users calling it sexist and inappropriate. Several social media users and influencers also questioned the handling of the interaction during the live performance.
Influencer Dolly Singh strongly reacted to the incident, sharing a detailed post urging male creators and comedians to be more responsible during audience interactions as well as online content.

She criticised what she described as performative feminism among some creators and highlighted how such incidents contribute to normalising sexist behaviour. Singh also spoke about repeated online harassment faced by women on public platforms, sharing personal experiences of abusive and threatening comments.
She further argued that creators should take greater responsibility for the kind of audience behaviour their content encourages, noting that ignoring such issues contributes to unsafe online environments for women.
Content creator Kusha Kapila also responded to the controversy, urging women to openly call out problematic content. She stated that choosing to make or upload such material is a deliberate decision and emphasised that it should not be defended as comedy when it reinforces harmful stereotypes.
Kapila also called on men within the comedy and content community to actively challenge such behaviour rather than remain silent, stressing that accountability should be collective.
Following the backlash, Pranit More issued an apology on Instagram. He acknowledged criticism of the crowdwork clip and said the audience member’s remarks did not reflect his views. He also admitted that he should have challenged the comment during the show instead of laughing and moving on, calling it a lapse in judgement.
The individual involved in the viral clip has been identified as Himanshu Jangra, a 22-year-old from Gurugram, Haryana. The incident continues to fuel debate over boundaries in stand-up comedy, audience participation, and responsibility in live performances.
