Kabul Attack Sparks Tensions as Taliban Government Blames Pakistan
Kabul: Taliban government in Afghanistan has accused the Pakistani military of carrying out an airstrike on a drug rehabilitation hospital in the capital, Kabul. According to Taliban officials, the attack killed approximately 400 people and injured more than 250. This incident has further escalated already simmering tensions between the two countries.
Afghanistan's Deputy Government Spokesperson, Hamdullah Fitrat, said on Tuesday morning that a large part of the hospital was completely destroyed in the airstrike that occurred on Monday night. He added that relief and rescue teams are on the scene and efforts are underway to extinguish the fire in the building and rescue those trapped in the debris.
According to Fitrat, 400 people have been confirmed dead so far, while many injured are being treated in various hospitals.

Taliban government spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid issued a statement on social media, saying that this attack by Pakistan was a blatant violation of Afghanistan's sovereignty.
He said that most of the people killed and injured in the attack were drug-addicted patients undergoing treatment at the hospital. Mujahid also appealed to the international community to pay attention to the incident and put pressure on Pakistan.
The Pakistani government has completely rejected these allegations. Mosharraf Zaidi, spokesman for Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, said that no hospital in Kabul was targeted.
Pakistan says its army only strikes at bases from where attacks against Pakistan are planned.
This incident comes as the border conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan has entered its third week. According to Afghan officials, four people were killed and ten injured in border firing on Monday.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has urged the Taliban government in Afghanistan to take strong action against terrorism. Pakistan has long alleged that certain groups based in Afghanistan, particularly the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), are responsible for attacks in the country. However, Kabul has consistently denied these allegations.
Tensions between the two countries escalated in late February when Afghanistan launched cross-border operations in response to Pakistani airstrikes. Since then, the situation has remained extremely tense, with continued shelling and airstrikes.
