Sharif Osman Hadi, who passed away at Singapore’s General Hospital from gunshot injuries, was a key figure in Bangladesh’s July 2024 student-led uprising. The movement had led to the ousting of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Hadi had been preparing to contest the parliamentary elections scheduled for February 2026 and was known for his outspoken criticism of both India and Hasina, who has been residing in Delhi since leaving Dhaka.
