Kathmandu: Nepal's ex-prime minister Jhalanath Khanal’s wife Rajyalaxmi Chitrakar was badly burnt and has died.

This incident happened at her residence in Dallu, where the protesters surrounded her inside the house and set it on fire.

Died during treatment

According to family sources, she was taken to Kirtipur Burn Hospital in critical condition. She died here during treatment. This incident has added to the growing number of casualties. The Gen-G protest which started on Monday has now become more violent. The authorities have not yet issued any statement about this attack.

Khanal was rescued by the army

According to CPN (Unified Socialist) leader Naresh Shahi, the protesters set fire inside the house due to which she was seriously injured. According to him, when the protesters set the house on fire, she was at home with her son Nirbhik Khanal. After being engulfed in flames, she was taken to the Nepal Army hospital in the cantonment. According to Shahi, she was treated in the ICU here but she had suffered severe burns. Due to this, she was taken to Kirtipur Hospital. Jhalanath Khanal was rescued by the Nepal Army before the fire engulfed the house.

Jhalanath Khanal has been the 35th Prime Minister of Nepal and held the post from February 2011 to August 2011. He has also been the chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal and has also served as the leader of the Constituent Assembly Parliamentary Party of the CPN.
