Pakistan: 5 including 2 pilots killed after helicopter crashes in PoK

This is the second accident in recent weeks after a helicopter of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government crashed last month.

Islamabad: At least five crew members, including 2 pilots, were killed when a helicopter crashed in Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Gilgit-Baltistan government spokesman Faizullah Faraq said in a statement that the helicopter crashed in the Chilas area of ​​​​Diamer district.

He said, 'One of our helicopters has crashed in Thor of Chilas.' He said that the crew included two pilots and three technical staff.

Diamer Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Hameed said in a statement that five people were killed in the accident. He said that the helicopter was landing on a new proposed helipad as a test.

The exact cause of the accident is not yet known. This is the second accident in recent weeks after a helicopter of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government crashed last month.

Devastation due to torrential rains

On the other hand, torrential rains in a large part of Pakistan have caused floods in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. At least 15 people have died in the last 24 hours. This information was given in official figures released on Sunday.

According to officials, millions of people have been affected by the floods so far. 10 people died in the last 24 hours in Punjab province, while five people lost their lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during the same period.

According to the report of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the death toll in Pakistan from June 26 to August 31 has increased to 854 and more than 1,100 people have been injured.

More than 20 lakh people have been affected by the severe floods in Punjab, while the government has rescued 7,60,000 people and more than 5,00,000 animals trapped in the floods.
