New Delhi: The Nobel Committee announced the Nobel Prize in Chemistry on Wednesday. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the year 2025 to Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson, and Omar Yaghi.

These three scientists were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their work on the development of metal-organic frameworks. This year, the award was jointly given to scientists from Japan, the United States, and Australia.

Who received the Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physics?

Earlier, the announcement of the Nobel Prizes began on Monday, October 6. On Monday, the Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded to scientists Mary E. Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell, and Shimon Sakaguchi. On Tuesday, the Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to three American scientists: John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret, and John M. Martinis. They were awarded for their discovery of macroscopic quantum states, mechanical tunneling, and energy quantization in electrical circuits. The Nobel Prizes for Literature, Economics, and Peace will be announced in the coming days.

What does a Nobel Prize winner receive?

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry is awarded annually by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for outstanding discoveries in the field of chemistry. The recipients receive a total of 11 million Swedish crowns (approximately $12 million) as a prize. Furthermore, if more than one scientist shares the Nobel Prize for the same discovery, the prize money is shared among them.
