New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States is considering "gradually winding down" its military operations against Iran. However, he made it clear that he is not in favor of any kind of ceasefire. Trump asserts that the US has come very close to achieving its objectives and, therefore, may consider scaling back its involvement, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Iran’s Response and Claims

On the other hand, Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has claimed that Iran has dealt a "severe blow" to its enemies. Speaking on the occasion of the Persian New Year (Nowruz), he stated that the enemy has been weakened due to the country's unity. However, this statement comes at a time when a series of explosions are rocking Tehran.

Attacks in Tehran and Jerusalem

Recent explosions in Tehran have further exacerbated the situation. Meanwhile, Israel has alleged that Iran launched an attack near holy sites in Jerusalem, creating a large crater in the Old City area. This incident has further heightened religious and political tensions.

Global Impact: Turmoil in Oil Markets

The impact of this conflict is being felt across the globe. Oil prices are rising rapidly, with Brent crude reaching $112 per barrel. This has triggered a decline in stock markets and increased the risk of an economic recession. Experts believe that if supply disruptions persist for an extended period, the global economy as a whole will suffer the consequences.

Attacks on Gulf Nations

Attacks by Iran on energy infrastructure in the Gulf nations also continue unabated. A major refinery in Kuwait and a gas plant in Qatar were targeted, resulting in extensive damage. According to reports, Qatar could face annual losses amounting to billions of dollars, and repairs could take several years to complete. America's Future Strategy

Trump also stated that the security of the Strait of Hormuz should now be the responsibility of other nations. The U.S. will provide assistance if necessary but will not assume direct responsibility. Furthermore, he noted that while the U.S. is open to dialogue with Iran, there is currently no clear leadership within the country with whom to negotiate.

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is becoming increasingly complex. On one hand, the U.S. claims to be on the verge of victory, while on the other, Iran shows no signs of backing down. Consequently, the days ahead could prove to be pivotal for this conflict.
