New Delhi: The United States has set April 9, 2026, as the date to end the ongoing conflict with Iran. This marks the first time that a clear timeline for ending the war has been put forward.

Trump's Major Statement

US President Donald Trump has stated that no attacks will be launched against Iran's energy infrastructure over the next five days. He claimed that negotiations between the two nations are moving in the right direction and that a consensus has been reached on several issues.

Progress in Negotiations

According to Trump, progress has been made on approximately 15 key issues. However, he also noted that it remains uncertain whether a major agreement will ultimately be reached. On the other hand, Iran initially denied that talks were taking place but later acknowledged that negotiations are indeed ongoing.

Mediation by Several Nations, Including Pakistan

According to reports, countries such as Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan are acting as mediators in this matter. Representatives from these nations have met with US envoys in an effort to advance the peace talks.

Key Meeting Possible in Pakistan

Reports suggest that a meeting between US and Iranian officials could take place in Islamabad this week. US Vice President J.D. Vance is expected to lead the American delegation at this meeting.

Trump's Claims and Iran's Response

Trump asserted that the United States has significantly neutralized Iran's capabilities and that Iran is now seeking a settlement. Conversely, Iran's IRGC dismissed Trump's claims, labeling him a "deceiver."

India's Concerns

India's External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, has spoken with the US Secretary of State to express concerns regarding the impact of this conflict, particularly concerning energy security.

The situation remains tense; however, thanks to ongoing negotiations and mediation efforts, hopes for peace certainly persist. All eyes are now fixed on the April 9 deadline and the potential for a comprehensive agreement.
