New Delhi: Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has reacted sharply to this decision of America. He clarified that Brazil will retaliate against the US under the "Economic Reciprocity Law." Lula said that if the US imposes unilateral tariffs on Brazil, Brazil will also impose similar tariffs on American products, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Sharp reaction on social media

Lula, on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), termed Trump's allegations as false and misleading and said that Brazil is a sovereign country and will not accept any external interference. He wrote that Brazil's judicial system is independent and will not be affected by any foreign pressure.

Lula also said that the legal process going on against Bolsonaro is under the Brazilian judiciary, and interference by any external nation in it is unacceptable. He termed Trump's allegations as "factless and false" and said that in the last 15 years, the US has earned a profit of $410 billion from trade with Brazil.

The Bolsonaro case became the root of the controversy

Trump, while giving the reason for the tariff, said that this decision is against the "unfair treatment" being meted out to former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro is facing trial for plotting a coup, which Trump is calling "political revenge." Lula, on the other hand, called it a completely legal process and forbade the US from interfering in it.

Global impact and target on BRICS

Trump has targeted not only Brazil but also the BRICS group. He warned that BRICS is conspiring to weaken the dollar, and if this happens, the US will impose an additional 10% tariff. Trump also said that the policies of BRICS are a threat to the national security of the US.

Proposal of relief to American companies

Trump also announced that international companies that will produce in the US will be exempted from these tariffs. But stricter action will be taken against countries that impose retaliatory tariffs.
