New Delhi: The Indian government has stepped up diplomatic engagement amid the ongoing military conflict in the Middle East. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, emphasizing the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the region and ensuring the safety of civilians. He stated that India is closely monitoring the situation and that the safety of its citizens is a top priority.

The Prime Minister also spoke with Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and condemned the attacks on the UAE and expressed solidarity. Meanwhile, a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by the Prime Minister, thoroughly reviewed regional developments and their potential impact on India.

A large number of Indian nationals are present in the Gulf countries- UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of External Affairs is making continuous efforts to ensure their safe return and assistance. Meanwhile, the escalating tensions have led to a surge in global crude oil prices, which could impact India's import bill, inflation, and market sentiment. Clashes have also been reported along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, further exacerbating regional instability.
