New Delhi: The Kedarnath Temple Committee has announced a complete ban on mobile phones within the premises of Kedarnath Temple ahead of its reopening on April 22. The move is aimed at preserving the sanctity of the religious site and ensuring a peaceful environment for visitors.
Authorities have also prohibited photography and video recording inside the temple complex. The decision comes as part of efforts to regulate crowd behaviour and reduce distractions during worship.

Temple officials have made it clear that the new rules will be strictly enforced. Devotees found carrying mobile phones or engaging in photography and videography within the premises may face penalties or legal action.
Visitors have been urged to follow the guidelines and cooperate with authorities to maintain order and respect the spiritual atmosphere of the shrine.
The restriction has been introduced in response to the growing number of pilgrims and increased use of mobile devices within the temple in recent years. Officials believe that limiting phone usage will help streamline the movement of devotees and enhance the overall experience.
With large crowds expected during the pilgrimage season, the measure is intended to ensure smoother management and reduce congestion inside the temple.
The temple is scheduled to reopen on April 22 at 8 am after remaining closed for nearly six months due to winter conditions. Rituals associated with the reopening are already underway, including the ceremonial procession of the deity.
As per tradition, the temple doors will open once the palanquin reaches the shrine, marking the beginning of the annual pilgrimage.
The reopening of Kedarnath is part of the larger Char Dham pilgrimage season in Uttarakhand. While Kedarnath will open on April 22, the Badrinath Temple is scheduled to open on April 23.
Meanwhile, the Gangotri Temple and Yamunotri Temple have already opened on April 19, marking the start of the annual pilgrimage cycle.
