Ingredients Required

  1. 1 cup moong dal (yellow split lentils)
  2. 1 cup moringa (sahjan) leaves, finely chopped
  3. 2 tablespoons sooji (semolina)
  4. 1 green chili, finely chopped
  5. 1 small piece of ginger, grated
  6. ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  7. ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Water as needed
  10. Oil for cooking

How to Prepare Moringa Chilla

Start by washing the moong dal thoroughly and soaking it in water for 3–4 hours. Once soaked, grind the lentils into a smooth paste using a blender.

Transfer the paste into a mixing bowl and add turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, grated ginger, and chopped green chili. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.

Next, add the finely chopped moringa leaves and sooji to the mixture. Stir thoroughly, then gradually add water to achieve a smooth, pourable batter consistency.

Heat a tava (griddle) and lightly grease it with oil. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the hot surface and spread it evenly in a circular motion. Drizzle a little oil around the edges and cook until golden brown on both sides.
