New Delhi: Vitamin D is extremely important for our health. It is usually obtained from sunlight. However, in today's fast-paced life, people often spend less time in the sun. Because of this, many people take vitamin D supplements to compensate for the deficiency. But did you know that some common foods can also provide the body with a good amount of vitamin D? These foods also contain protein, healthy fats, and minerals that help vitamin D function properly in the body.

Fatty Fish
Fatty fish is considered one of the best sources of vitamin D. 100 grams of fatty fish can provide approximately 400 to 600 IU of vitamin D, which is equivalent to a low-dose supplement. They also contain omega-3 fatty acids, which strengthen bones and reduce inflammation.

Egg Yolks
Egg yolks contain a form of vitamin D that the body can easily absorb. One whole egg provides approximately 40–50 IU of vitamin D. The healthy fats present in egg yolks improve vitamin D absorption.

Sun-Grown Mushrooms
Mushrooms exposed to sunlight or UV light also produce vitamin D, just like our skin does from sunlight. A single serving of some mushrooms can provide 200–400 IU of vitamin D, making them a great option for vegetarians.

Fortified Milk and Yogurt
Fortified milk and yogurt contain approximately 100–120 IU of vitamin D per cup. While this amount may seem small, its effect gradually increases with daily consumption. The calcium and vitamin D in milk work together to help strengthen bones.

Note: This information is for general knowledge only. The vitamin D requirements for each individual vary depending on age, health, and medical conditions. If someone has a vitamin D deficiency, a medical condition, or is taking medication, they should definitely consult a doctor.
