Ghonda: A life is full of ups and downs. If we experience pleasure today, then one day or someday, we will also endure pain. We might be doing wonders in our lives, but being a human being, nobody can quench our thirst for a better life.
Then there are some real-life stories that not only motivate us but also force us to expound on what we have really achieved in life.
In today's story, we will let you meet a young boy, Ramdas Hemraj Marbade, from a small village of Khairbodi in Tiroda tehsil of Ghonda district, Maharashtra, who secured a job in the country's most prestigious institution, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), by pushing his carts of Gollgappas during the day and studying during the night, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
He comes from a humble background, as his father is a retired peon in Dongargaon and his mother is a homemaker. He completed his high school at Ganesh High School and 12th standard at C.G. Patel College in Tiroda.
Not being from an affluent family and deprived of finances, he could not attend college full-time. Instead, he completed his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree privately from YCM College in Nashik.
Apart from struggling with his studies, to support and fund his family, he sold 'golgapopas' across nearby villages. Despite the struggles, he kept dreaming about his dream job— working as a technician in ISRO.
He would push his cart through the streets during the day and sit with his books at night. When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.
Chasing his dreams, Ramdas enrolled himself in a pump operator-cum-mechanic course in the Industrial Training Institute (ITI).
In 2023, ISRO released job openings for apprentice trainee roles, and as the universe planned for him, he had already learned important technical skills like how to operate and repair centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, water treatment techniques, and maintenance of oil and gas equipment.
Ramdas applied and cleared the written test held in Nagpur in 2024. He was then called for a skill test on August 29, 2024 at Sriharikota. After successfully clearing it, he received his joining letter on May 19, 2025.
Today, Ramdas is working as a pump operator-cum-mechanic at ISRO's Space Centre in Sriharikota, contributing to important research activities. His incredible journey—from selling golgappas to becoming an ISRO technician—has made his family and Gondia district proud. His story proves that with hard work, determination, and belief in oneself, dreams can come true — no matter where you start from.
