Video is claiming that Naseeruddin Shah is at Jantar Mantar protest (Img: X)
New Delhi: A video featuring veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and his sons is being widely shared with claims that they attended the CJP-led ‘Chalo Sansad’ demonstration at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. However, the footage is not connected to the protest and was recorded in Mumbai.
The original clip reportedly shows Naseeruddin Shah and his son Vivaan Shah outside Regal Cinema in Colaba after attending a film screening.

The footage was first posted on Instagram on July 15, several days before it began circulating with claims linking it to the Delhi protest. Visual details in the original version, including the cinema surroundings, help establish that the location was Mumbai.
Edited versions shared later appear to exclude sections that reveal the venue, creating the misleading impression that the actor was present at Jantar Mantar.
The posting date of the original video also contradicts the claim. It was uploaded before the ‘Chalo Sansad’ demonstration and later resurfaced on social media with an unrelated description.

There is no evidence in the video establishing that Naseeruddin Shah or his sons attended the CJP protest in Delhi.
Naseeruddin Shah had, however, recently joined several public figures in appealing to activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his indefinite hunger strike due to concerns over his health.
The appeal supported the protesters’ broader demands but urged Wangchuk to preserve his strength for the campaign ahead. That public statement may have contributed to the unrelated Mumbai footage being falsely associated with the protest.
