CM Fadnavis reviews situation after heavy rain
Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is reviewing the situation caused by widespread excessive rains across Maharashtra and has asked the entire administration to be in alert mode.
The Chief Minister office (CMO) said in statement on Monday that the CM has ordered immediate Panchnama in places where damage has occurred. He is in constant touch with the chief secretary of the state and the state disaster management cell.
Heavy rains affected normal life in Pune, Satara, Solapur, Raigad, Mumbai and MMR areas in the state. As many as 25 houses have partially collapsed in Baramati, seven people trapped in the flood have been rescued and 80 families have been shifted to safer places, said the Chief Minister office.
Mobile services disrupted on Sunday are being restored in Baramati, said the CM office.
The Phaltan city in Satara district received 163.5 mm of rain and an NDRF team is in the city to rescue 30 residents stranded near Dudhebavi village. They have been provided with accommodation and food facilities.
Mumbai received 135.4 mm of rain in the past 24 hours. Complaints of waterlogging were received from 6 places in the city. Complaints of short circuit incidents were also received from 18 places.
The Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Fire Department, Mumbai Police have been alerted. There has been no loss of life anywhere. NDRF teams are ready at 5 places in Mumbai for any kind of help, informed the CMO.
The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and thunderstorm in Mumbai in the next 24 hours.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms lashed Mumbai on Monday morning, causing widespread waterlogging and disrupted transport and flight operations with the issuance of an orange alert for Maharashtra’s coastal districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The advisory came as the city woke up to intense rain, thunder, and lightning, particularly in areas like Panvel, where residents reported persistent thunderstorms since early morning.
The local trains in Mumbai, considered the lifeline of the city, are experiencing delays across all three primary lines—Central, Western, and Harbour—because of the intense rainfall that the city has been facing.
