New Delhi: A controversy has erupted regarding Rahul Gandhi's conduct within the Parliament complex. More than 200 retired military officers, former bureaucrats, diplomats, and lawyers have demanded that he apologize to the nation, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
In an open letter, these individuals stated that Rahul Gandhi's behavior on March 12 was contrary to the dignity and rules of Parliament. According to them, this constitutes a violation of parliamentary rules and institutional decorum.
The letter alleges that Rahul Gandhi and opposition MPs disregarded the Speaker's clear instructions. The Speaker had directed that no protests be held within the Parliament complex; however, protests were carried out despite this directive.
It is alleged that Rahul Gandhi and other MPs staged a protest while sitting on the steps of Parliament, consuming tea and biscuits. The signatories of the letter described this conduct as inappropriate and disrespectful for a supreme institution like Parliament.
The open letter asserts that such behavior is not merely a violation of rules but amounts to prioritizing personal politics over the dignity of Parliament. They characterized the incident as "political drama."
The drafting and coordination of this letter were led by former DGP S. P. Vaid. It has been signed by 204 individuals, including 116 former military officers and 84 former bureaucrats.
The letter further notes that such protests and disruptions adversely affect parliamentary proceedings and result in a waste of public time.
It now remains to be seen how Rahul Gandhi responds to this situation—whether he offers an apology or stands firm on his current stance.
