New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi has achieved a historic milestone, becoming India's longest-serving head of government. He has surpassed Pawan Kumar Chamling, who previously held the top spot.
Prime Minister Modi has led the government for a total of 8,931 days, including his tenures as Chief Minister of Gujarat and Prime Minister of India. Previously, Pawan Kumar Chamling held this position for 8,930 days. Thus, PM Modi broke this record by one day.
PM Modi was sworn in as Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. At that time, the state was grappling with natural disasters and political instability. He overcame these challenges, setting Gujarat on a new path to development and claiming to have made it a model of good governance.
Modi is the first Prime Minister of the country to lead his party to victory in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections - 2014, 2019, and 2024. He is also the first Prime Minister born after independence to lead for such a long period.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the countrymen as he entered his 25th year in office. He stated that his constant endeavor has been to improve the lives of the citizens and to move India forward on the path of development.
PM Modi claimed that more than 250 million people have been lifted out of poverty in the last 11 years. He described the empowerment of women, youth, and farmers as his government's priorities.
