Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday unveiled the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) manifesto for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 during his visit to Kolkata. Titled “Bharose Ka Patra” (Letter of Trust), the document lays out the party’s vision for governance and development in the state.

The manifesto highlights inclusive development, with a strong emphasis on women, farmers, and youth. Shah criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), stating that West Bengal is “yearning for change” and requires a new direction.

Roadmap for Development
Calling the manifesto a roadmap for progress, Shah said it reflects the aspirations of all sections of society. He outlined targeted measures to support farmers facing agricultural challenges and stressed initiatives aimed at empowering youth and women. The document also underscores the revival of Bengal’s cultural identity and heritage.

Key Promises: Pay Commission and UCC
In a major announcement, Shah promised that if elected to power, the BJP would implement the 7th Pay Commission within 45 days. He also pledged to extend all Central Government schemes to the state and implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) within six months.

Financial Support for Women
The manifesto includes a proposal to provide ₹3,000 per month to women beneficiaries under the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme. The amount would be directly credited to bank accounts between the 1st and 5th of every month.

Public Outreach 
Earlier in the day, Shah reiterated his message on X, stating that Bengal seeks freedom from what he described as the TMC’s “reign of fear.” As part of his visit, he is scheduled to address a public rally in Debra, West Medinipur, and hold a roadshow in Kharagpur to connect with the public.
