In this article, we bring you the secret recipe that will make your gram flour barfi absolutely perfect, grainy, and melt-in-your-mouth. Let's learn the easy recipe without delay.

Ingredients for Making Gram Flour Burfi

  • Gram flour (finely ground) - 1 cup
  • Desi ghee - 3/4 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • For garnishing - Chopped pistachios/almonds

Method for Making Gram Flour Burfi

  • Take a pan and lightly heat ghee in it. Then add the gram flour and reduce the heat to low.
  • Fry the gram flour over low heat, stirring constantly, until it turns light golden and emits a mild aroma. This may take about 10-15 minutes.
  • Once the gram flour is thoroughly roasted, transfer it to a plate. Make sure it doesn't cool.
  • Now, add sugar and water to the same pan and heat it.
  • Boil until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • We need to make a one-string syrup. To do this, take a small amount of syrup between your finger and thumb and check if a thin thread forms, the syrup is ready.
  • Add cardamom powder to it. Then, turn off the heat and slowly add the roasted, hot gram flour to the syrup.
  • Keep stirring frequently to prevent lumps. The mixture will begin to thicken in no time.
  • Then, lightly grease a plate or tray with ghee.
  • Spread the mixture onto the greased tray and level it with a spoon.
  • Sprinkle chopped pistachios or almonds on top and press down lightly.
  • When the mixture is slightly warm, cut it into barfi shapes with a knife.
  • Let it cool completely (at least 2-3 hours).
  • Once cooled, cut the barfi into pieces and serve it to your family this Dhanteras.
