New Delhi: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Sunday reassured citizens that there is no shortage of LPG across India, reporting that more than 5.1 million cylinders were successfully delivered on April 4.

According to the Ministry, no distributor across the country has reported any supply disruptions. It also highlighted a significant shift toward digital services, noting that nearly 95% of LPG bookings are now made through online platforms.

To improve transparency and reduce irregularities in distribution, the government has expanded the use of Delivery Authentication Code (DAC)-based deliveries. This system now covers about 90% of deliveries, a sharp rise from 53% in February, before the onset of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Consumers have been encouraged to continue using digital booking methods and to visit distributor offices only when absolutely necessary.

The Ministry also reported strong uptake of smaller LPG cylinders. Around 90,000 units of 5-kg cylinders were sold on Saturday alone, bringing total sales since March 23 to approximately 660,000. These cylinders remain readily available and can be purchased from distributors upon presentation of a valid ID.

In parallel, the government is accelerating the rollout of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections. Since March, more than 390,000 new PNG registrations have been recorded, with gas supply already activated for about 360,000 households and businesses. States have been directed to support the expansion of PNG infrastructure for both domestic and commercial users.

The Ministry further assured that India’s energy supply remains stable overall. All refineries are operating at full capacity, LPG production has been increased to meet demand, and the country maintains adequate reserves of crude oil, petrol, and diesel.
