New Delhi: The Supreme Court witnessed an unusual and shocking scene on Friday when a courtroom hearing was disrupted by a self-represented litigant who allegedly lost his temper during proceedings.
According to reports, The petitioner engaged in disorderly conduct, hurling case papers in the courtroom and using abusive language against the Chief Justice of India.
When the matter was taken up, the petitioner addressed the bench, saying, “Mr judicial servant, I order you to order the registration of FIR against ACP Vikas Nagar, Lucknow. I am the sovereign…"
Justice Viswanathan immediately responded, asking, “You are ordering me? You are ordering us?"
The petitioner then said, “That is all from my side. Everything is on record."
The situation escalated when the litigant threw papers inside the courtroom, including towards the judges' bench, causing a brief commotion. The incident created an unprecedented disturbance in the country's apex court.
Before a partial court, working days bench of Justice KV Viswanathan and Justice Alok Aradhe, one Prabal Pratap appeared in person against the dismissal of his Writ Petition by the Allahabad High Court. He approached the Supreme Court against the conversion of his application under Section 173(4) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) into a private complaint case.
