Security Forces gun down three Naxals during an encounter
Raipur: Three Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Sukma on Sunday. Each of the naxal was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh, police said.
Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan, while talking to media said that the encounter broke out in the forest area under Bhejji and Chintagufa police station jurisdiction on Sunday morning when a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on an anti-Naxalite operation. The operation was based on the inputs about the presence of Maoist cadres in the region.
Sukma Police also confirmed that three Naxals have been killed including two women Maoists, Podyam Gangi and Sodi Gangi and militia commander and sniper specialist Madvi Deva.
IG Bastar P Sundarraj confirmed the operation and said that the encounter happened near Tumalpad village in the state.
A .303 rifle, BGL launchers and ammunition from the site were recoverd by the teams of the District Reserve Guard.
Further search operations are underway.
