New Delhi: The Delhi International Open Grandmasters Chess Tournament (Delhi GM Open), organized by the Delhi Chess Association (DCA), has forged a strategic partnership with Triveni Sports Private Limited (TSPL) for the 21st edition, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

As Associate Sponsor, Triveni Sports will support the DCA’s mission to strengthen India’s competitive chess ecosystem by backing a tournament that has consistently produced top-tier talent.The Delhi GM Open 2025 will run from June 7 to 14 at Tivoli Gardens, Chattarpur, here, featuring a record Rs 1.21 crore prize pool and participation from over 2,500 players representing more than 15 countries. The tournament will host 20 Grandmasters across three rating-based section.

Held under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation, the Delhi GM Open 2025 continues its legacy as Asia’s largest classical-format chess event. Supporting this scale is Triveni Sports, a joint venture between Triveni Engineering & Industries Limited and Triveni Turbine Limited, whose back-to-back Global Chess League titles and deep institutional ties to Indian chess bring elite-level commitment to a tournament built to nurture the sport from the ground up.Triveni’s presence will be seamlessly integrated across the Delhi GM Open, ensuring strong brand visibility throughout the tournament. From on-ground activation to digital campaigns, the partnership reflects a shared vision to elevate chess as both a competitive sport and a cultural force.

Adding further gravitas to this year’s edition, Dhruv M Sawhney, Chairman and Managing Director, Triveni Group, will grace the inauguration ceremony as the Chief Guest. A passionate chess enthusiast and former President of the All India Chess Federation for 12 years, Sawhney brings with him deep experience and an enduring commitment to the sport.

Together, we’re aligned with the long game we’re playing, which is growing chess sustainably from the grassroots up.” This year’s prize pool reflects a significant increase over last year, with ₹51 lakh allocated for Category A (open to rated players), and Rs 35 lakh each for Categories B and C (U-1900 and U-1700, respectively). All categories will follow the FIDE Swiss System with 10 rounds per section.
