New Delhi: Delhiites may feel the chill on Thursday night, as the Meteorological Department predicts it will be the coldest night of October. Weather experts have advised avoiding going out unless absolutely necessary, as cold winds will blow along with the drop in temperature.
A significant drop in temperature is expected
Delhi’s minimum temperature is expected to drop to around 16 degrees Celsius tonight, the lowest this season so far. Other NCR cities, such as Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Greater Noida, will see slightly higher temperatures, around 18 to 19 degrees Celsius.

Winds are expected to be mildly sunny during the day, with a slight chill and light fog in the morning.
Strong winds will intensify the chill
Winds blowing at a speed of around 10 kilometers per hour at night may further intensify the cold. Despite bright sunshine during the day, night temperatures will drop rapidly, leading to chilly nights.
Fog may also appear in Delhi in the coming days. On October 16th and 17th, light fog may be observed in Delhi and surrounding areas in the morning. While the fog layer may thicken between October 19th and 21st, which may also reduce visibility.
A low-pressure system is forming due to the cyclonic circulation near Sri Lanka, which could later develop into a depression or even a cyclone. This system will move through the Arabian Sea towards Yemen, but it will keep the weather in North India dry.
The impact of this will be that the air pollution in Delhi and North India may worsen and as temperatures drop, dust and pollutant particles will begin to settle in the atmosphere, further worsening air quality.
Rain expected in South India
Due to the influence of the Northeast Monsoon good rainfall is expected in South India, especially in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. Light rain may also occur in parts of South Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
