Dense fog in hills, cold wave in plains; Weather forecast for Delhi, UP and other states

New Delhi: Cold waves have begun to grip North India. The first week of December is over, and with it, the intensity of the cold is expected to increase in North India. The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert for 8 states on December 6 and 7.

The Meteorological Department says that cold wave conditions are likely in some places in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, as well as in northwestern Jharkhand and northern Odisha. A cold wave alert has also been issued for Uttar Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan on December 6 and 7.

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. A yellow alert for rain has been issued for both regions.

Temperature to drop in Delhi
Cold winds are expected to blow in Delhi and surrounding areas today, increasing the feeling of cold. The minimum temperature in the capital is likely to be around 8 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature around 23 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has predicted dense fog along with cold wave conditions in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Temperature drops rapidly in Rajasthan
The Meteorological Department has also predicted severe cold in Rajasthan. Due to the cold wave, a biting chill is being felt in many areas of Rajasthan. In some places, the temperature has been recorded below 2 degrees Celsius. According to the IMD, the temperature in Rajasthan may drop further. Dense fog is also expected in many places.

Cold wave alert in UP
A cold wave warning has been issued for several districts of Uttar Pradesh today. ​​A sharp drop in temperature along with cold wave conditions is expected, especially in Kanpur, Agra, Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida) and Barabanki.

Cold to intensify in Bihar
In Bihar, the temperature may drop to 4 degrees Celsius in Patna and surrounding areas. The cold is expected to intensify, especially in Bhojpur, Saran, Buxar, Gopalganj, East and West Champaran.

What will the weather be like in other places? The meteorological department predicts that minimum temperatures in northwest India may rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next three days. In Maharashtra, minimum temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged for the next four days, but may then fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, no significant change in minimum temperatures is expected in Gujarat over the next seven days.
