New Delhi: The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2025 concluded with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) registering a thumping victory, winning three out of the four key posts. The Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) managed to secure only the vice president’s seat.

The DUSU results 2025 were declared on Friday after 21 rounds of counting amid high security.

ABVP’s Aryan Maan wins president post with huge margin

Hansraj College student Aryan Maan won for the President post with 28,841 votes, defeating NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Choudhary, who secured 12,645 votes. Left-backed candidate Anjali finished third with 5,385 votes.

Maan, a graduate of Hansraj College and a native of Bahadurgarh, Haryana, is presently enrolled in Delhi University's postgraduate Library Science program. Subsidized metro passes, free campus Wi-Fi, improved sports facilities, and accessibility audits for students with disabilities were among the promises he made in his manifesto.

NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla becomes Vice President

The lone win for NSUI came as Rahul Jhansla was elected as vice president. Jhansla secured a major win with 29,339 votes, defeating ABVP's Govind Tanwa, who polled 20,547. AISA-SFI's Sohan garnered 4,163 votes. A final-year MA (Buddhist Studies) student raised key issues including campus infrastructure, hostel facilities, sanitation, and drinking water.

He has also demanded the setting up of a Women’s Development Cell at the university.

Kunal Chaudhary of ABVP secures secretary post

ABVP’s Kunal Chaudhary won the race for the secretary’s post. A Delhi native and PGDAV College graduate, he is currently pursuing Buddhist Studies at Delhi University. Chaudhary has long been associated with ABVP’s organizational activities and has been vocal on student issues for several years.

Dipika Jha elected joint secretary

The joint secretary’s post was also won by ABVP candidate Dipika Jha. Originally from Bihar and a graduate of Lakshmibai College, is now pursuing her MA in Buddhist Studies at Delhi University.

Actively involved with ABVP’s “Students for Seva” program, she has worked in social campaigns such as menstrual hygiene awareness under ‘Ritumati’ and community education initiatives.

DUSU Elections 2025: 39.36% voter turnout

As per the reports, of the 1.53 lakh registered voters, 60,272 students cast their ballots, pushing this year’s turnout to 39.36%. The figure marks a small rise from last year’s 35.2%, however is less than the 42% recorded in 2023.

23,000 NOTA votes this year

One distinct feature of this year’s contest was the visible presence of NOTA (“None of the Above”) votes, which crossed 23,000 across various posts—a sign of student dissent or demand for better representation. Voting took place across 52 centres and 195 booths, with over 2.75 lakh eligible students.
