Dynamite News Exclusive: Supreme Court Recommends Five New Chief Justices for Key High Courts

New Delhi: In a significant development within India’s judiciary, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of five new Chief Justices to various High Courts across the country. The recommendations cover the High Courts of Patna, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, and Sikkim, strengthening leadership in the higher judiciary.

Judges Recommended for Chief Justice Posts

According to the Collegium’s decision, Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta of the Allahabad High Court has been recommended as Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court following the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice.

Similarly, Justice M.S. Sonak from the Bombay High Court has been proposed for the post of Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court, also due to an upcoming retirement.

Transfers and New Appointments

The Collegium has also recommended Justice Revati P. Mohite Dere, currently serving at the Bombay High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, following the transfer of the current Chief Justice.

Meanwhile, Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque of the Kerala High Court has been recommended as Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.

Patna High Court to Get New Leadership

In another key recommendation, Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo of the Orissa High Court has been proposed as the next Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, one of the country’s most prominent High Courts with a heavy caseload.

Strengthening the Judiciary

These recommendations are part of the Supreme Court Collegium’s ongoing efforts to ensure efficient judicial administration, timely justice delivery, and continuity in leadership across High Courts. Once approved by the central government, the appointments will come into effect as per the notified dates.
