New Delhi: Amid the controversy surrounding the Robodog at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Galgotias University has issued a new clarification and apologized for the "confusion." The university stated that its representatives present at the summit were unaware of the full technical details and, in their eagerness to be on camera, provided factually incorrect information. The institute also stated that it would vacate its pavilion out of respect for the organizers' sentiments.

Professor Neha Singh is held accountable

The university placed responsibility for the entire incident on its professor, Neha Singh, stating that she was unaware of the product's technical origins and was not authorized to speak to the media. Previously, in a viral video, she had claimed the Robodog was developed by the university's Center of Excellence, which sparked controversy.

Claims of a Chinese company connection

After the video went viral on social media, many users claimed that the Robodog actually belonged to the Chinese robotics company Unitree. As the controversy escalated, the university clarified in its initial statement that it had not built the robodog, but was instead working to teach students practical skills in AI programming and robotics.

Action to remove pavilion from summit

According to reports, the university was asked to vacate the Summit Expo site following the incident. Although Professor Neha Singh denied any such official instructions, photos from the summit site showed the Galgotias stall's power cut, further deepening the controversy.

Neha Singh took 'responsibility'

On Wednesday, Professor Neha Singh issued a statement saying that the controversy arose due to lack of clear communication. She said that while speaking in excitement and haste, she was unable to articulate her point clearly, and she takes responsibility for this.

University's emphasis on AI education

The university stated that it is working to develop AI talent by connecting students to world-class technologies. According to the institute, the aim of robotics and AI programming is to provide students with real-world skills, as the demand for AI expertise is expected to grow rapidly in the future.

The Robodog controversy has raised questions about the credibility of educational institutions and the transparency of technological claims. While the matter is expected to subside after apologies and accountability, the incident also highlights the importance of factual accuracy at major technology events.
