New Delhi: The three-day centenary celebration of the Akhil Vishwa Gayatri Parivar concluded at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on Monday, bringing together prominent personalities from the judiciary, government and spiritual community. Former Chief Justice of India Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud honoured Dynamite News Editor-in-Chief and senior journalist Manoj Tibrewal Aakash for his distinguished contribution to journalism.
The concluding ceremony was attended by former CJI Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Union Minister Piyush Goyal. The event marked three significant milestones: the birth centenary of Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma, 100 years of the Akhand Deep and a century of spiritual sadhana by Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya.
The recognition of Manoj Tibrewal Aakash for his contribution to journalism was among the key moments of the concluding ceremony, placing the role of responsible media and public communication in focus during the three-day spiritual gathering.
Addressing the gathering, former CJI D.Y. Chandrachud reflected on the enduring relevance of Sant Dnyaneshwar’s teachings and their message of compassion, harmony and collective well-being. Referring to the 750th birth anniversary of the saint, he explained the significance of the Pasaydan, a composition comprising 10 verses that express the aspiration for a world free from evil, filled with love and brotherhood, and illuminated by knowledge.
He also spoke about the spiritual significance of the 24 syllables of the Gayatri Mantra, highlighting their universal message and relevance in contemporary times.
Against the backdrop of global conflicts, geopolitical tensions and growing uncertainty surrounding artificial intelligence, Chandrachud underlined the importance of spiritual wisdom in providing inner peace, clarity of thought and a balanced perspective. He highlighted how the teachings embedded in India's spiritual traditions continue to offer guidance amid rapidly changing social and technological realities.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal emphasised that India's progress must be rooted in its cultural heritage while embracing technological advancement, innovation and new ideas. He noted that the work of the Gayatri Parivar extends beyond religious and spiritual activities, encompassing education, social service, women's empowerment, the campaign for a drug-free India and efforts to address climate change.
Highlighting the vision of Viksit Bharat, Goyal said the participation of all 140 crore citizens would be essential to achieving the country's development goals. He stressed that economic expansion and growth in gross domestic product must go hand in hand with stronger moral values, integrity and character-building.
He also called for following the ideals and teachings of Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma and Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya, noting that honesty, good values and a spirit of service would be meaningful ways to honour their legacy.
Dr. Chinmay Pandya, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, described the organisation's journey over the past century as extraordinary and spiritually significant. He expressed happiness at being part of the three-day centenary celebration and highlighted the importance of the occasion in reflecting on the organisation's legacy.
Pandya also said that the Gayatri Parivar had drawn up several new initiatives and plans for the next 100 years. The focus, he indicated, would be on carrying forward the organisation's spiritual philosophy and social initiatives into the coming century.
The three-day gathering at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium brought together spiritual leaders, public representatives and distinguished guests to commemorate the legacy of Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma and Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya, along with the centenary of the Akhand Deep.
The concluding ceremony brought together discussions on spirituality, social transformation, education, ethical leadership, national development and the role of cultural values in a rapidly changing world.
The recognition of journalist Manoj Tibrewal Aakash by former CJI D.Y. Chandrachud added a notable moment to the closing proceedings, while the messages delivered by Chandrachud, Goyal and Pandya highlighted the event's broader focus on spiritual wisdom, social responsibility and the vision for the next century.
