Leh: The ongoing agitation demanding full statehood and inclusion in the Sixth Schedule for Ladakh witnessed major violent incidents on Wednesday. Two female protesters in Leh city suddenly fell ill and were hospitalized.

This incident further escalated tensions. Clashes also broke out between protesting students and police, with the students setting a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicle on fire. This created a tense and volatile atmosphere.
During the protest, two female protesters, identified as Anchuk and Anchuk Dolma, suddenly fainted. They were admitted to a nearby hospital. The incident sparked chaos at the gathering. Stones were also pelted at the Leh Hill Council building, further escalating the situation.
Hundreds of students gathered outside the BJP office. Stone pelting began during the protest. A large number of security forces were deployed to control the situation. However, the students became more agitated, and the protest turned violent.
Demand for statehood intensifies
A violent clash broke out between protesters and police. Some students set fire to a nearby RPF vehicle. Security forces then began to disperse the protesters. More police and army reinforcements were called to the scene. Officials say the situation is currently under control, but tension persists.
