Chandigarh: The Haryana Government had recently issued a circular of new electricity rates. Till now, people are looking very upset about the increased electricity rates. Regarding this, people want to know what the new rates are.

SDO AK Gupta at the Electricity Department office located at Ambala Cantonment 12 Cross Road clarified there is nothing like the kind of confusion being spread by some people.

There has been no change in the rate of the first 300 units per month. At the same time, the fixed charge has been increased by Rs 50 per kilowatt for 300 to 500 units.

Whereas the consumer whose meter load is up to 5 kilowatts and whose electricity consumption is less than 300 units per month will not have to pay any additional charge. Consumers with a load of up to 5 kilowatts and whose electricity consumption is more than 300 units per month will have to pay an additional 50 rupees per kilowatt. Those whose load is more than 5 kilowatts.

Increased To 210 Rupees Per Kilowatt

Their fixed charge has been increased to 75 rupees per kilowatt. There has been a 10 per cent increase in DSA connections for those consumers whose monthly consumption is more than 300 and two months' consumption is more than 600 units.

The main impact of the increased electricity rates is on LT and ST. The charge, which was Rs 165 per kilowatt in ST, has now been increased to Rs 290. In LT too, this charge has been increased to Rs 210 per kilowatt. There has been an increase of 15 per cent.

There was no increase in electricity bills for the last 8 years. While the expenses have increased more than before, the government is getting electricity at a higher price than before. Electricity consumption by consumers per month has also increased.
