Due to continuous heavy rains in North India and rising water level of Yamuna river, many low-lying areas of Delhi-NCR have been submerged. The water level of Yamuna had reached 207.40 meters on Wednesday night.
So far, more than 10,000 people have been evacuated to safer places and more than 25 relief camps have been set up. Many areas of Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad have been completely submerged.
The Yamuna river has swelled due to the release of water from Hathinikund and Wazirabad barrage in Haryana. If this speed of water continues, the water level can reach 208 meters, which can cause a disaster like 2023 again. People living in low-lying areas are forced to leave their homes and go to safer places. Due to the lack of food items, they have to depend on biscuits and bread.
