New Delhi: Army chief Upendra Dwivedi issued a sharp warning to Pakistan on Saturday, stating that continued support for terrorism against India could have serious consequences for the neighbouring country.
Speaking during an interactive session titled ‘Sena Samwad’ at the Manekshaw Centre, General Dwivedi said Pakistan would have to decide “whether they want to be part of geography or history” if it continued harbouring terrorists and carrying out hostile activities against India.
The event was organised by Uniform Unveiled and came days after the Indian armed forces marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor.

During the discussion, General Dwivedi was asked how the Indian Army would react if circumstances similar to those that triggered Operation Sindoor were to arise again.
In response, the Army chief reiterated India’s firm stand against cross-border terrorism and warned Pakistan against continuing such actions. His remarks reflected India’s position that terror infrastructure operating from across the border remains a major security concern.
The statement also underlined the military’s readiness to respond decisively to future threats if required.
Operation Sindoor was launched by Indian armed forces targeting multiple terror infrastructure sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The operation involved precision strikes carried out after heightened tensions between the two countries. Following India’s action, Pakistan launched retaliatory offensives, leading to a prolonged military confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
India’s counter-offensives during the escalation were also conducted under Operation Sindoor. The conflict continued for nearly 88 hours before both countries reached an understanding on the evening of May 10, bringing military operations to a halt.
General Dwivedi’s remarks come amid continued concerns over cross-border terrorism and regional security. India has repeatedly maintained that any support to terror groups operating against the country remains unacceptable.
