New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has clearly stated that India will not compromise on its security. He confirmed that India will soon purchase more S-400 air defense systems from Russia.

This statement is considered a significant indication of India's defense strategy and its commitment to further strengthening its air security.

The Power and Success of the S-400 System

The S-400 air defense system is one of the most advanced air defense systems in the world. It has the capability to destroy enemy fighter jets, missiles, and drones from hundreds of kilometers away.

Rajnath Singh stated that the S-400 demonstrated its impressive capabilities during 'Operation Sindoor' in May of this year. In this mission, India struck down Pakistani fighter jets hundreds of kilometers inside Pakistani territory.

Following this success, the S-400 became a topic of discussion not only in India but also internationally.

The 2018 Deal and the Reason for the Delay

India signed a deal with Russia in 2018 for five S-400 systems. Three of these systems have already been delivered, but the delivery of the remaining two systems is being delayed due to the war in Ukraine. Despite this, India has decided to purchase additional S-400 systems to further strengthen its defense capabilities.

Self-Reliant India: Doubling Defense Exports

In an interview with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, Rajnath Singh stated that India is currently exporting defense products worth ₹25,000 crore. The government aims to increase this to ₹50,000 crore in the coming years.

He said that India no longer wants to be dependent on foreign weapons. The government's focus is on empowering its defense industry under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) initiative so that the country can manufacture its own weapons and military equipment.

Update on Nuclear Submarines and Theaterization

Rajnath Singh stated that there has been some delay in the indigenous nuclear submarine project, but the progress is satisfactory. He said that India is moving forward at a good pace in this direction.

He also stated that the government is taking concrete steps towards theaterization (strategic coordination between the three armed forces). Regarding Operation Trishul, he clarified that it is a routine military exercise and part of the army's preparedness.

The defense minister's statement reflects India's strategic thinking and its commitment to self-reliance. The new acquisition of the S-400 system will significantly strengthen India's air defense capabilities and further solidify the country's position globally in the field of defense production.
