Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of a local man during an encounter in Ganderbal district. Instructions have also been issued to complete the investigation in a timely manner.
The incident occurred on April 1st in the Arhama area of Ganderbal. Raashid Ahmed Mughal, a resident of Chountwaliwar Lar, was killed. Following the incident, tension prevailed in the area, and demands for an investigation into the matter were being raised.
According to an official order issued by the Home Department, the District Magistrate of Ganderbal has been assigned the responsibility of conducting a "thorough and impartial" investigation into the matter. The order states that all aspects of the incident will be investigated to uncover the truth.
During the investigation, every aspect of the encounter will be reviewed. The administration has clarified that the objective of the investigation is to ascertain the facts with complete transparency. This will ensure that any negligence or wrongdoing is uncovered.
The District Magistrate has been directed to complete the investigation within seven days and submit the report to the Home Department. Officials said that further action will be decided based on the report.
