NIA Conducts Fresh Raids in Poonch in Ongoing Terror Conspiracy Probe

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) continues its crackdown on terror-related cases in Jammu and Kashmir. In this connection, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at several locations in Poonch district on Thursday. This operation was carried out in connection with the investigation of a terrorist conspiracy case in which weapons and ammunition were previously recovered.

Search Operations in Several Areas of Poonch

According to officials, the raids were conducted in the Mohalla Khorinar and Hari-Surankote areas of Poonch district. Security agency teams searched several locations and attempted to gather potential evidence.

This operation is related to a case in which weapons, including a pistol and two grenades, were recovered from two individuals in 2024.

Weapons Recovered in 2024

According to investigating agencies, weapons and explosives were recovered from two suspects in this border district in 2024. The NIA launched an in-depth investigation into this case to determine the terrorist network behind the incident.

Charge sheet has already been filed against accused

Officials stated that the agency filed a charge sheet against the accused in this case in April last year. Abdul Aziz and Munawar Hussain were named as accused in the charge sheet.

Further investigations revealed that the two were in contact with Nazir Hussain, an alleged handler based in Pakistan, who was providing them instructions.

Agency Searching for More Links to Conspiracy

NIA officials stated that this search operation was conducted to identify other possible links and associates related to the case. The agency is investigating whether additional individuals were involved in this network and whether any support was being received from across the border.

Security agencies have stated that the investigation is ongoing and further revelations may emerge in the future. Security has been tightened in the entire area and suspicious activities are being monitored.
