Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade
Jaipur: Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade has given such a statement that has started a discussion in the state as well as in the political corridors.
Governor Haribhau Bagde has claimed that Mughal ruler Akbar and Rajput princess Jodha were never married. The king of Amer got his maid married to Akbar instead of his daughter.
This statement of the governor has created a stir.
In fact, on the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap, the Governor of Rajasthan claimed that Jodha-Akbar never became a couple.
The king of Amer got Akbar married to a maid of the palace, not his daughter Harkha Bai.
He also claimed that earlier wrong things were being presented in history, now these mistakes are being corrected.
At the same time, referring to Maharana Pratap, he said that history never did justice to him. Maharana Pratap was given less importance and Mughal ruler Akbar was given more importance. The same thing has been done in history books as well as textbooks.
Governor Haribhau Bagde also said that the marriage of Amer princely state's princess Jodha Bai and Mughal ruler Akbar is wrong.
'Maharana Pratap did not enter into a treaty with Akbar' - Governor of Rajasthan
Governor Bagde says that he has such information that the king of Amer did not marry his daughter to Akbar. Wrong things have been written in history about this.
At the same time, he also claimed that Maharana Pratap never proposed to enter into a treaty with Akbar. Maharana Pratap was a brave warrior and he could never compromise with his self-respect. Whatever has been said in history about this is all misleading.
Claim of Jodha Bai's conversion in history
Making another big claim, Haribhau Bagde said that Harkha Bai was not only the daughter of Amer's King Bharmal, but King Bharmal got Akbar married to the daughter of his maid.
By the way, it is claimed in history that Akbar named Harkha Bai as Maryam. It is said that Harkhabai alias Maryam was Akbar's favorite wife Jodhabai.
'There is no mention of marriage in Akbar's autobiography'
According to the governor, there is no mention in Akbar's autobiography that his fourth wife Harkhabai was the daughter of Raja Bharmal or that Akbar had ever married Jodhabai.
These statements of Governor Haribhau Bagde have started a new debate about history.
It is clearly written in history that when Akbar started expanding his empire, in 1562, the then king of Amer, Bharmal, made a compromise with him to save his kingdom.
Jodha-Akbar's marriage is written in history
Raja Bharmal married his daughter Harkhu Bai to Akbar. Harkhu Bai and Akbar got married on 6 February 1562. Akbar's son Jahangir alias Salim was born to Harkha Bai.
According to history, Harkhabai was Akbar's fourth wife. Some historians say that Harkhabai alias Maryam was Akbar's third wife.
After marriage, Akbar converted her to Islam and named her Maryam Uz Zamani.
Many historians also condemned Raja Bharmal for marrying his daughter to Mughal emperor Akbar to save his kingdom.
Raja Bharmal was also criticized a lot in the then Rajput society.
Along with this, it is also mentioned in some history books that after eating rotis made of grass, Maharana Pratap sent a proposal to enter into a treaty with Akbar.
Some historians claimed that Maharana Pratap had surrendered before Akbar. Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde has also described this fact of history as completely wrong and misleading.
Governor Haribhau Bagde made these claims about Maharana and his arch enemy Akbar in a program organized in Udaipur on the eve of Maharana Pratap's birth anniversary.
'If Maharana Pratap and Shivaji Maharaj were together, the picture would have been different'
In this program organized on the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap, he also said that the work of discriminating between Maharana Pratap and Akbar and tampering with history, which was being done through books, is now being corrected.
Governor Haribhau Bagde also said in this program that there was a difference of 90 years in the age of Maharana Pratap and Chhatrapati Shivaji.
If both were contemporaries, the history of India would have been different. The picture of the country would also have been different today.
Mistakes are being corrected in the syllabus of children
According to the Governor, Maharana Pratap and Shivaji were unmatched in terms of bravery and patriotism.
These statements given by Governor Haribhau Bagde on the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap are being discussed a lot.
Even earlier, historians were not of the same opinion about Jodha Bai and Akbar. This controversy had increased further at the time of release of the film Jodha Akbar.
Governor Haribhau Bagde said on this occasion that earlier our history was written by foreigners, and they used to write wrong things. Later, even when Indians wrote the history, the complete truth was not told.
However, the history taught to children through textbooks is now being corrected.
