Rampur: The body of a 22-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district was brought back to India nearly seven months after his reported death in Russia, leaving his family in shock and raising several unanswered questions.
The deceased, identified as Shaved, was a resident of Manjhra Fatehganj village in the Maswasi area. His body was handed over to family members at Delhi airport in the early hours of April 4.

According to relatives, the family was informed about his death several months after the incident. They claim there was no communication from him since September last year, and the news of his death came only recently.
The delay in informing the family has sparked concerns, with relatives questioning why authorities took so long to disclose the details.
Family members said Shaved had travelled to Russia around nine months ago in search of employment. Initially, he worked in a steel furniture unit and stayed in a hostel.
However, they allege that he was later taken away by individuals linked to the military and subsequently joined the army under unclear circumstances. Photographs of him in military uniform were reportedly sent to the family, leaving them surprised.
Preliminary information suggests that the man died after sustaining a gunshot injury while on duty on April 2. Officials are yet to provide a detailed account of the circumstances leading to his death.
Investigating agencies in India have taken note of the case, and further inquiries are expected to establish the sequence of events.

After being brought from Delhi, the body was taken to his native village in Rampur, where last rites were performed with the consent of family members. The atmosphere in the village remained sombre, with residents expressing grief over the incident.
Relatives have alleged that Shaved may have been misled into joining the army, a claim that is yet to be independently verified. They are seeking clarity on how he was recruited and why there was a long delay in communication.
Authorities are expected to look into the matter as the family continues to demand answers.
