Prime Minister Addresses Parliament before Monsoon Session (Img: X)
New Delhi: Ahead of Parliament’s Monsoon Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that voices guided by national interest and patriotism must continue to be heard in the House. He stressed that every viewpoint should be respected and urged all MPs to present their arguments with meaningful ideas and facts. The Prime Minister also called upon lawmakers to participate actively and constructively in the Monsoon Session.
PM Modi said, "I am not talking about any 56-year-old youth. I am talking about the country's—these startup youths with an average age of 28... They deserve congratulations, of course. But such things, you know, fill India with self-confidence. In the world, India’s profile is becoming universally respected and widely accepted..."
Drawing a comparison between the rainy season and the Monsoon Session, the Prime Minister said both should remain "productive" for the benefit of the nation. He stressed that strong arguments supported by facts are the foundation of democracy and appealed to MPs to participate actively in debates rather than creating disruptions.
Modi said Parliament should encourage healthy discussions where different viewpoints are respected while keeping national interest at the forefront.
The Prime Minister said India had achieved several milestones in recent weeks that had enhanced the country's standing on the global stage. Referring to the achievements of young Indians in the space sector, he said the country's aspirations were expanding beyond traditional boundaries.
He praised private space startup Skyroot Aerospace for its recent success and noted that the average age of its team is just 28 years, calling it an example of the talent and innovation of India's youth.
The Monsoon Session, scheduled to continue until August 13, is expected to witness the introduction and discussion of several important bills. These include proposed amendments related to foreign funding regulations, income tax, higher education reforms, MSME development, the strength of Supreme Court judges, birth and death registrations, and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act.
The session is expected to witness sharp exchanges between the government and the Opposition, with opposition parties preparing to raise a range of political and public issues while the government seeks to secure the passage of key legislation.
