Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday conducted an early-morning tour of Srinagar city to review ongoing development works, inspect key infrastructure projects and assess the progress of civic initiatives aimed at improving public facilities.

The tour, which began around 6:30 am, covered several locations across Srinagar, from Downtown to Uptown areas. The Chief Minister focused on evaluating the progress of projects on the ground and identifying areas that require greater attention from the administration.

CM Inspects Barbar Shah Bridge Project

During the visit, Omar Abdullah inspected the site of the proposed bridge at Barbar Shah. The project is expected to improve connectivity and help reduce traffic congestion for commuters travelling towards Shehar-e-Khaas.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of completing infrastructure projects within the scheduled timelines so that residents can benefit from improved mobility and better connectivity.

Reviews New Urban Health Centre Facility

The Chief Minister also visited the newly constructed Maharaj Gunj Urban Primary Health Centre and reviewed the facilities available at the centre.

The facility, located in the historic Shehar-e-Khaas area, aims to strengthen healthcare delivery by providing improved medical services to local residents while maintaining the character of the surrounding heritage zone.

Focus on Ground-Level Assessment

Omar Abdullah said that field inspections provide a better understanding of the actual progress of projects compared to relying only on official reports and reviews.

The Chief Minister examined various ongoing works and noted that while several projects were progressing satisfactorily, some areas required additional efforts and closer monitoring by concerned departments.

Senior Officials Accompany CM

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, along with MLAs and senior officials from concerned departments.

Push for Better Urban Infrastructure

The inspection tour is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to review infrastructure and public service projects in Srinagar. The focus remains on improving healthcare facilities, easing traffic movement, strengthening civic infrastructure and ensuring that development projects deliver visible benefits to citizens.

The administration has emphasised timely execution and effective implementation of projects as key priorities for improving the quality of urban services across Srinagar.
