Punjab police busts arms and drug smuggling network
Chandigarh: The Counter Intelligence (CI) Wing of Amritsar Police has busted a cross-border arms and drug smuggling network which has a link to Pakistan, said the police.
Gaurav Yadav, Director General of Police said on social media X that in an intelligence-led operation, Counter Intelligence Amritsar has busted a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling module with links to Pakistan. He said that the police has also apprehended two operatives Gurjant Singh & Gurvel Singh. Both of them are residents of TarnTaran. Police also recovered 2.5 kg Heroin and 5 sophisticated pistols alongwith magazines.

DGP Yadav stated that preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused were acting upon the "directions of a Pakistan-based smuggler to smuggle the contraband from across the border"
DGP Yadav further said that the recovered arms were "meant to be supplied to gangsters & criminals to fuel unlawful activities" in Punjab.
An FIR has been registered at the SSOC police station in this case, and further investigation is underway. The police aim to uncover the full connections of this network and other hidden links behind it. DGP Yadav stated that the Punjab Police is continuously taking action against such narco-terrorism and organized crime to keep the people of Punjab safe.

Earlier, in another case, the Amritsar Rural Police arrested a man from whom two hand grenades were recovered. The arrested accused, Ravinder Singh (Ravi), a resident of Tarn Taran, was in contact with Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agents. He had obtained these weapons from across the border.
The police have initiated a thorough investigation in this case as well, and an FIR has been registered at the Gharinda Police Station, Amritsar. The Punjab Police once again reiterated its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, eliminating organized crime, and ensuring peace and security in the state.
