New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will chair an all-party meeting at 5 PM on Wednesday to discuss the escalating crisis in West Asia and its implications for India.
The high-level meeting will be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, along with several other senior ministers. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is expected to brief leaders on the evolving situation in the region.
The meeting comes as the ongoing conflict in West Asia enters its fourth week, severely impacting global trade routes, particularly through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
Tensions escalated dramatically following the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in joint military strikes allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel on February 28.
In retaliation, Iran launched attacks targeting US and Israeli assets across several Gulf nations, further destabilising the region and disrupting maritime traffic. The crisis has also begun to impact international energy markets and global economic stability.

A day earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called for coordinated efforts between the Centre and state governments to tackle emerging challenges arising from the conflict.
The all-party meeting is expected to deliberate on India’s strategic, economic and security preparedness amid the rapidly evolving geopolitical situation.
