Jaipur: A heart-wrenching road accident took place on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Sawai Madhopur on Saturday afternoon. A speeding truck ran over devotees returning from Bhedoli Ashram, killing five devotees on the spot. Many others are said to be seriously injured in the accident, who have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Truck ran over devotees walking on foot
According to eyewitnesses, the devotees were walking on foot on the expressway while returning after darshan. Then an uncontrolled truck coming from behind trampled them. The collision was so severe that many bodies were found in a mutilated condition. All the deceased are said to be residents of Chimanpura village in Lalsot area of Sawai Madhopur district.
Chaos after the accident, police from many police stations reached
As soon as the accident happened, there was chaos on the highway and traffic was also affected for some time. As soon as the information was received, the police of Mitrapura, Baunli and Lalsot police station reached the spot. The police took the bodies in their possession and sent them for postmortem and started searching for the truck driver.
The accident happened while returning from Bhedoli Ashram
This accident happened at a short distance from Bhedoli Ashram. The devotees were returning from there to their village. Seeing the seriousness of the accident, police and administration officials also reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Local people expressed anger after the accident and said that there is no arrangement for a safe pedestrian path for devotees and villagers on the highway. High speed vehicles cause accidents every day, but despite this, negligence is being shown regarding safety measures.
