77th Republic Day parade to display 30 tableaux
New Delhi: The 77th Republic Day celebrations unfolded in spectacular fashion on Kartavya Path on Sunday, drawing national and global attention. From the ceremonial arrival of the President to an impressive display of military strength and vibrant tableaux, the 90-minute parade showcased India’s cultural diversity and defence capabilities.

Chief Guests Grace the Occasion
This year’s Republic Day parade was graced by prominent global leaders — President of the European Council Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Both dignitaries arrived at Kartavya Path alongside President Droupadi Murmu, highlighting India’s growing global partnerships.
Theme: ‘Vande Mataram’
The theme for Republic Day 2026 was “Vande Mataram”, marking the 150th anniversary of the national song. Kartavya Path was adorned to reflect this theme, which was also prominently featured in several tableaux celebrating patriotism and national pride.
Impressive Military March
Around 6,000 soldiers, 18 marching contingents, and 13 military bands participated in the parade. Key highlights included:
The skies over Delhi roared as 29 fighter aircraft, including Rafale, Su-30 MKI, MiG-29, and Jaguar jets, flew in precision formations. The Indian Air Force also presented a special formation inspired by ‘Operation Sindoor’, witnessed by over 30,000 spectators.

A 148-member NCC girls’ contingent marched under the leadership of Senior Under Officer Mansi Vishwakarma from the Uttarakhand Directorate
A European Union contingent also marched on Kartavya Path
History was made as Assistant Commandant Simran Bala (26) became the first woman officer to command a male CRPF battalion during the parade
