New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India has intervened in a serious case in which 26 Indian citizens have claimed that they are trapped in Russia and being forced to fight in the Ukraine war. They have sought immediate help from the court, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
These people say that they were lured to Russia by luring them with good jobs abroad. After reaching there, their passports were snatched, and they were drafted into the Russian army and sent to war. They said that they are fighting against their will and their lives are in danger.
The Supreme Court has considered this matter very serious and has also seen the angle of human trafficking in it. The court said that it is possible that the youth are being trapped and sent abroad illegally, and they are being exploited.
The court has sought information from the central government on this matter. The Solicitor General has been directed to talk to the government and report on the situation of Indian citizens struck and forced into Russia-Ukraine war. The court said that this is a very serious issue, and it is important to know its truth.
The petition demands that the Indian Embassy in Russia immediately contact these people, ascertain their status, and ensure their safety. Besides, they should also be given legal and medical assistance.
The petitioners have demanded from the court that the government should make diplomatic efforts as soon as possible so that these Indians can be brought back to India safely. Apart from this, a demand has also been made to investigate this entire network and take action against the culprits.
The next hearing of this case will be on April 24. Till then, the government will have to inform the court about its action and steps taken. This case is not only related to the safety of Indians stranded abroad, but also shows how people can be deceived and pushed into dangerous situations in the name of fake jobs. It is hoped that the intervention of the Supreme Court will provide relief to the victims.
