New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived to attend the G-7 summit, was invited by former US President Donald Trump to visit America while returning from Canada, reports Dynamite News correspondent. However, PM Modi did not accept this invitation, citing pre-scheduled programs. In response, PM Modi invited Trump to come to India for the proposed Quad summit later this year.
The meeting could not happen due to Trump's sudden return.
Due to increasing tension between Israel and Iran, Trump left the G-7 meeting midway, due to which he and PM Modi could not meet. According to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Trump later expressed his desire to talk to Modi, after which talks were fixed between the two leaders.
35-minute conversation between PM Modi and Trump
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has stated that the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Trump was to be held on the side of the G7 Summit. President Trump was required to cut short his visit to the US, as a result of which this meeting could not happen. Subsequently, at President Trump's request, both the leaders spoke on the phone. The phone call lasted approximately 35 minutes.

Agreement to meet in the near future
Vikram Misri said that Trump asked PM Modi if he could stay in America while returning from Canada, but the Prime Minister expressed his inability, citing his busy schedule. The two leaders decided that they would try to meet soon.
Trump is eager to visit India
During the talks, the two leaders shared their views on the Indo-Pacific region and the role of the Quad group in it and expressed support. PM Modi invited Trump to visit India to attend the Quad summit, which Trump accepted and said that he is excited to visit India.
