Union Cabinet Approves Paper Leak Amendment Bill (Img:x)
New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has approved the Paper Leak Amendment Bill, introducing a series of stringent measures aimed at curbing examination fraud and ensuring swift justice in paper leak cases. The Bill is expected to be introduced in Parliament during the upcoming week of the Monsoon Session.
The proposed legislation seeks to strengthen India's anti-cheating framework through stricter punishments, time-bound investigations and speedy trials.
The government believes that the creation of dedicated fast-track courts and a fixed timeline for investigations will reduce delays in prosecution and enhance accountability. The proposed law is intended to protect the interests of students and restore public confidence in recruitment and entrance examinations.
The Bill comes amid increasing concerns over repeated paper leak incidents affecting major competitive examinations across the country. If passed by Parliament, it will provide a stronger legal framework to investigate, prosecute and punish those responsible for compromising the examination process.
